Afternoon Lads
Hope you are all well and looking forward to the new season in Elite Football League
At this point i am looking at opening the transfer market on Sunday 1st February, with the first matches (Challenge Cup & Elite FA Cup Qualifiers) being played Wednesday 11th February and Thursday 12th February!
This would then see our first league matches played on Monday 16th February giving everyone a two week period to get there transfer activity done and there squads looking hopefully how they want them.
Also just to let everyone know from 1st February there will be a change to the Scouting regards Goalkeepers!
when the transfer market opens you will now be able to scout the following keepers ranges/skills
Age 26-30 will now produce Keepers up to a skill 31
Age 31+ will now produce Keepers up to a skill 37
As always there will still be alot of randomness in what your scout brings back,
cost for these players will be in line with current player values, so don't be expecting a freebie keeper!
All other keeper age ranges will produce the same skills we were seeing before!

I have developed a keeper for six seasons and seen my results suffer for it because I have persevered for the greater good of building a team, now teams can scout a great keeper if the have the cash. My lads were crushed last season in probably our worst league campaign in our history due to the fact that my forwards couldn't score against the super keepers. Looking bleak this season due to this update, not having a dig but I think it might have an adverse affect on teams that are rebuilding, I could scout a good keeper myself, but that is just cutting corners and kind of makes the whole building a team from scratch idea pointless. So I can scout a 37 rated keeper and commit Steklenberg to being a reserve keeper now Malky what's your thoughts on my points bud, not having a go as I know you've made difficult choices regarding the game, these choices I agree are hard but good for the game.

I like the change...i wish it had been there a few seasons ago! I can see Gazza's grievance though!
Can you please clarify if i'm having my missing youth abs added, as it's going to decide whether i scrap the youth system and sell them or keep them.

Buddy i totally accept all your points, and understand your frustrations, the changes im making are always going to upset a few, cause its scuppered what they have been planning for seasons, they have had less enjoyment out the game because they have had to struggle with doing the right thing and building up there squads. my thoughts behind this change had those in mind who's squads are of a good level but are not getting the enjoyment out the game cause the guy between the sticks is letting them down Yes i can see some manager now using this option for a temporary fix, but the cost of that would be using all there transfer funds on one player or sacrificing expanding there stadium! it not like every manager will land lucky and get the keeper of there dreams, the random factor will still play a big part and managers will have to decide whether spending alot of money on a aged 35 31 skilled keeper is worth it!

Can you please clarify if i'm having my missing youth abs added, as it's going to decide whether i scrap the youth system and sell them or keep them. no 'missing' abs will be added to any squads, this change was necessary all be it could have been handled better by myself, it was discussed mid season and IMO would we would have had the same reaction if i announced mid season the bonuses would be dropped from x 10 to x 6 at the end of the season, with every rule change i always expect disagreement, so when only one or two managers out of 36 challenge the change it makes me feel its been the correct change! last season was always going to be monitored during the whole season to see what all those extra games would do to players and how they progressed, change was always going to happen whether it was to increase or decrease things! hopefully now the changes made for this season will leave things settled for the foreseeable future

Fair enough Malky, thanks for the quick answer, some tough decisions made, but you have my backing, can see your way of thinking, will absorb some cash and may make the game more competitive, look how good Villa are with a great keeper. Not sure what to do now for Rangers, feel a migraine coming on What time Sunday does the market open ? 00:00 ? Get that transfer market open Friday mate, let us have our fun over the weekend !! Drunken deals are the best !!

As a club desperate for a gk, I dont really like this change. Maybe improve them slightly, but I hope to god the odds of a star coming out are minimal.
However I do also agree that something needed to be done to make getting a decent gk at least realistic...
Ah well, guess thats my scouts sorted.

The question is how much will be asked for a skill 37 - 31yr old goalkeeper ?
Got to be 30m plus I would imagine.

Personally i think this could be a desaster for the game. You could end up with every team owning a 40 rated keeper within a few seasons regardless of age, when retired buy another. I understand it is still random but who is to say if you scout 3 keepers you wont get one decent one( except for me as all my scouted have been s**t) everyone knows i have struggled with keepers since cech retired i should be jumping for joy but i dont think it the right thing to do.

Assuming the average rating of each teams top keeper will increase a bit, should abs for strikers go up to counter it? We already have trouble scoring against top top keepers in this game. Something my 24/25 rated strikers probably can't do much against

Wouldn't this just devalue the top keepers that are already in the game
If you could scout a 37 rated keeper for say 20 mil would really devalue say my keeper as I would certainly want more than that but people would think ill just scout

I CAN see the merits of this change for the good of the game ...
But Santos like Rangers made big sacrifices to 'counter' the GK problem (we could see in the future) perhaps in hindsight we should of known changes would be made to 'counter the future problems'
Hopefully the prices are VERY HIGH for GK's - and clubs like ours who are now ok in that department can use funds to strengthen other areas whilst other clubs spend on GK's ...
Think I chose my rebuilding one season too early but C'est la vie ....

I think a 37 rated keeper is not going to cost you less than 50 Million, certainly not 20Mil.
It's the same scouting system and older heads were not cheap at 23/24 rated, so 37 is gonna be big dollar.
I'm saying a 31 year old 27 rated is gonna be crazy money, and open up a big auction.
Would a big gun want one on the bench??
