Rule book states:
"New For Season 10 - Play Off's The team who finishes in 6th position in the Elite League will play the team who finishes 3rd in Division One over two legs home and away if the Elite team wins over two legs they will stay in the Elite League, if the Division One team wins over two legs the will be promoted to the Elite League and the losing Elite League team will be relegated to Division One. this setup will be the same for all divisions, 6th in Division 1 will play 3rd in Division Two etc, away goals will count double, matches still ending in a draw will require a penalty shootout."
Does that mean if team A and B had the following results
TeamA 0-0 TeamB TeamB 3-2 TeamA
would team A go through because their two away goals would equal four? I'm sure this is not the case, and what is meant is that if it's a draw overall, the team with the most away goals is declared the winner. I just thought the rules weren't clear and would like to make sure.

Yep - pretty good - Six out of eight teams in our league can be will be involved in relegation and promotion issues LOL Not very realistic though. In the Championship at the moment, the top two go through while places 3-6 have the playoffs where the third team to be promoted is revealed. Our system would mean the top nine would be involved in promotion and the bottom nine involved in relegation, leaving only six out of 24 teams with nothing to play for

Its a system ussed in ITN soccer, just simplified.
where 3rd and 4th play off and the winner plays 3rd bottom from above.
It aint realistic but it does work!
On another note i think James might be gutted this wasnt brought in earlier. He's finished 3rd about 4 times now lol

when i think about it, i think winners should go up and 2nd and 3rd should play off. winners of the play off's play 2nd from bottom from the league above. That way, it actually makes promotion and relegation harder and gives stability to the mid divisions. But thats just me.

I think that makes more sense too. We never had a vote on this issue, so we don't know what people in genral think of it.

cant say I agree with any of it myself, maybe if the leagues were bigger then yes, but there is usually always something for every team to play for as promotion/relegation is usually real tight.
Imagine being relegated via play off to a fluke result, like Chris and his losses to T sheets, I think id quit the game at something like that!

I dont agree with this idea, we have 8 teams in every div so in this case you will change maybe 6 team in same div (2 and 3) in the same season, and why we want do that any reason for this changes??? and who will decided that???

When we where throwing ideas around nearly everyone suggested playoff's.
I dont dislike it, as i think it involves more teams in the promotion/relegations battles.
But i do feel that promotion and relegation should be harder! but thats my opinion.
Yeah by all means involve more teams but realisticly it will prove a nightmare for Div 1 / 2 teams. As they could see up to 6 changes to the division EOS.

every body try hard and play 14 match for the promotion/relegations battles like you say, but this idea in one unlucky match you go up or down, we see in the cup lots of big teams lost to div3 teams is that mean they are better team?

Well thats the point Ahmed!
If you play 14 games and your in the relegations/playoff spot, then thats your doing. On the same token that you can have 1 unlucky game and get relegated, it also could save your season also.
I do like the idea, because it will add to the game and take it away from your bog standard ESMS based games of 8 teams in each league, 2 up 2 down.
The game is improving all the time SO why not put a twist in it? It'll take the game into a different direction than others.
I do think however, we should change it slightly!
Top team goes up, bottom teams goes down, 2nd and 3rd playoff and the winner plays 7th from the league above.
That way we could still have 2up, 2down but on occasions it could be only 1up 1down or a combination of both.
I like that format better, as it gives struggling teams a chance, the nearly teams a chance and adds a few twists and turns along the way and makes the game more challenging.
To put it bluntly, the leagues arent big enough to use the format suggested. Plus i think to play in a game where up to half the league will change each season is pushing it slightly as is. So to loose up to 6 teams only leaving 2 in a league is stupid.
The only other way which it would work is if we play everyone 3 times per season (SPL) then it would warrant the extra playoff spots.
As in real life and other games, playoffs only work due to the size of the leagues or games played! We only play 14 games so realisticly only 1 or 2 teams should go up or down to maintain a fair balance.
