Would it not be a good idea if we could put our own players on the auction list, set an asking price and then sit back and wait for the offers?
Would make cash auctions between clubs easier - there should be an option to withdraw a player from auction before any bids come in, but once a bid is in the player cannot be retracted from the auction list?
Could this be coded easily?

Yes this could be done. In fact I sort of had this in mind already - you will see there is a column called "Type" in the auction table which could allow for different types of auctions in future, e.g. auctioning off release players, or as you say just a player you want to sell.
There are a few bug fixes to be done right now, then I have a list of quite a few improvements that could be made to the site... so I will add this to the list.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Was this ever looked into further?
I think it would be a great addition!

OK will try and get this set up. I think it would be a good addition. Also I was thinking that when you release a player, he should go onto the auction. Would allow managers to pick up reserve fillers cheaply.

I like this option too - set a reserve price at the release fee and the usual 24 hours bidding limit

Personally I like the idea that you can auction your players

Hopefully in the next few weeks. Unfortunately it will be too late for the rush of preseason transfers this season, but you will get a chance to try it out this season and then no doubt it will go crazy in next preseason.

What about setting a reserve price for the auction? In case of no bids and being forced to sell on the cheap?

You would set the starting bid in the same way that a scout auction has a starting bid. If no-one bids then you could withdraw the auction and maybe restart it with a lower starting bid.
For release players, the starting bid would be the reserve value.

Why take them out of the game completely? Just release them into a list of all un-attached players, it's not like it will make a difference to you?

It really doesn't matter though does it. Keeps it a little bit more realistic, kind of making the player a free agent.
