You're not wrong about my feelings gents, we came with a job to do and put in our best performance of the season in front of the home fans. But Barca effectively threw the game by playing such a weak keeper - as they had already qualified, it's Bryn's choice in the cup whether to play for the win or not, but frankly there's no way you can field that sort of keeper against a decent side and expect not to lose. I hope that the 40 abs Lloris will pick up EOS for this match are worth the loss of top spot in the group - it would be a terrible shame for Barca to draw Real or Bayern away in the next round. PS yes I agree, I think the Celtic game should be replayed. Otherwise it's too much of a free gift for Celtic. In hindsight, I should not have played both Lloris and Miranda. I can only apologise to Dan and Aberdeen and try not to make the same mistake in the future.

No worries Bryn, as I say it's your decision whether to play for first place or take the chance with an away draw... as it turns out your gamble has paid off, with an OK draw in the next round.

I wouldn't say that Barca have a good draw Porto must be the 3rd favourites or were until the draw.

I was happy to meet any team, but Real Madrid to be honest. Porto are a tough opponent, especially with RVN at the spear, but we do have quality in our squad that can bring a win for us. Marseille might not have the cutting edge of RVN, but they're capable of beating anyone on their day and Rangers will find it very tough.

I would say either Barca or Porto are the 2 teams closest to breaking up the big two. So this has got to be the tie of the round and Porto have to be slight favourites. What with home advantage and the RVN factor. Barca have built a very useful squad whilst in the lower leagues.

Must have been another side that dropped to league 2 whilst having one of the better squads in the game a few seasons back. Or were you that good you jumped divisions?

You're thinking of Real... only a few seasons ago they were (briefly) playing their league football against Aberdeen. elitefootballleague.co.uk/index.php?action=th&team=rmd

Real saw the rewards from doing so and followed suit.

OK... although Barca were never an established Elite side until season 10.

OK... although Barca were never an established Elite side until season 10. Always been an established EFL team. What league they should be/been in is open to debate. But this might answer that. When Barca won league 2, Man U won the elite. Barca had a better keeper by 3 stats, better strikers by 4 stats and a better defence by 2 stats. The midfield was weaker by 2. now tell me they shouldn't have been an eshtablished Elite side back then? Plus better subs by a bit, it's all in the past but playing the game rather than to win has it's long term benefits.

The reason for my extended stay outside the Elite is most likely down to focusing on youth rather than skill. I wanted to build a team for the future, very much like Ahmed did with Real when he joined, and how Rangers and Celtic are doing now. I don't think I ever reaped the benefit as I was hoping. I think we have a good balance between youth and experience now, and we'll reach our peak next season when Essien and Tabata will retire. Shame we couldn't get Tabata when Joaquin was still playing for us.
