So on a genuine question....Man City are going to be in debt by 8m come the end of the season... how is this dealt with? As the transfer window is shut?
I assume that they can't just wait for the prize money come the end of the season?

FINANCES --------
Each team’s finances are that manager’s responsibility. Teams' income/expenditure will be from their ground gate income and transfer activity. Deals will not be completed if It will take your finances below 0
if a club for some reason find themselves in debt once the weeks financial calculations have been completed they have 1 week to get there club back in the black and out of debt.
if they fail to get there club out of debt by the end of that week period the EFL FA will look at further punishments which may include point deduction or forcing the club to clear there debt by selling one of there players. this would start with there weakest squad player and working there way up until the debt has been cleared
if a club goes is in debt once the season ends, the EFL board will deduct the clubs stadium capacity at the cost of 500,000 per 1000 seats until the debt is cleared. The budget figure on the website is the predicted profit / loss across a whole season. It is not a projection from now until the end of the season. So no, they should not be 8M in debt at the end of the season. However, as they are down to the wire, they might dip into the red, particularly as they are running at a loss. If they stay in the red for more than a week, I guess Malky might take action. I'm sure there will be no shortage of managers checking up on this. I think if they're in debt at the end of the season then the prize money will probably clear the debt.

It'll be capacity reduction to cleat the debt, pretty clear in the rules.
They might be ok if they have a couple of home games and cup games.

That's the key point I guess - perhaps not £8m but as you say, it will be tight!

To clear things up if a club is in debt at the end of the season there debt will be paid off by reducing there stadium capacity by 1000 seats at 500,000 till the debt is cleared
sponsorship, prize money etc gets added once all the previous seasons updates have been completed

City should be fine thanks to the cup game. 50/50 split from 117k stadium gave them more money from gates than they are used too lol. considering the 8.9m is based on a loss over 22 games - about 400k a game will be about 2.4m.

So...there seems to be a few teams that are going to require that stadium reduction then...

I think it's done before prize money is added.
