So the lets say the caretaker manager uses all the scouting mission and does a load of transfers then what is left for a new manager to do?
I took over Villa two seasons ago and I hope there was no caretaker manager before me!! As then I would look at it as my success, where if a caretaker manager had done a lot of it how could a new manager take the credit for it?
The new manager can also ask for advice just like I did regarding my goalie I had no clue at the time if Soresen was any good and lots of clubs wanted him. I seeked advice before any choice was made and look at me now top of the elite league as I write this!
Also going off what happens in real life a caretaker manager doesn't make any signings its the board that do that the caretaker is there to manage what he has until a new manager comes in and then he takes them in the direction he wants too not the direction of some bit part manager.
Your point is a good one - that's why I'm only talking about scouts and maybe a couple of transfers - for the good of the club - but like you say a new manager comes in and want's to make the club their own which is fine .
But like trusk says - there is an opportunity for younger players to gain abs by being recruited now and playing 18 odd games instead of a new manager coming in later and then the players only play 10 games or so ...
But jobface one point your missing is ( the caretaker is an experienced manager who is looking after the club like it is their own club and doing the best for that club )
When a new manager comes in they can still make the club their own - but due to the care taker the club has not lost any of the benefits like scout missions etc:
Scenario of a caretaker not being allowed to do anything apart from team sheets ...
A new manager comes in ( already missed the majority of the transfer season - most clubs are now settled with players etc: )
So why should a club with no manager not allowed to take advantage of the scout system and transfer market before the season starts and the next few weeks to bolster the club ...
Trust me been there ( would love to do it again ) but every transfer gets scrutinised by everyone when doing transfers as a care taker !!!!
Hearts was a one off scenario - and certainly a centre of controversy
But like I said if you had taken over Hearts 2 seasons ago with no caretaker option given - they would now be full of a team of players who came from the reserves and only just reaching the 23 rated level with about 4 'proper ' players ....
So jobface that is the other end of the argument for care taker managers ...
Remember I'm only trying to make the game as fair as possible for everyone
