Hi Lads, never one to hang around when it comes to ELF, I thought it was time again to ask all managers about the game and what they would like to see added. Or changed if anything, its easy to think if no1 is asking for change then its not needed! Once again my mind is set on adding internationals to ELF, but I want it so fitness is added, and updated before the next club matches, this way it gives manages more of a sore head with team selection, injures would also be included so again leaving managers in a sweat when there star players are on international duty, we could also give managers the option to withdraw one player, as long as they have a good excuse ie low fitness! International managers would pick from a pool of players to get there team of 16 they might even pick more players from a certain team so it affects there fitness for an upcoming game, also the subject of league sizes may be looked at again, is everyone happy or do we need just 3 leagues, and finally from me, again I like my idea of each league negatiating there own sponsorship/TV money at the start of each seaon, take what's on offer or gamble which could net each club a lower or higher amount, this would get all managers talking about what to do, that way 3rd division clubs if they gambled and got the higher amount may start to compete with the bigger boys in the transfer market! So there you have my ideas! Open to discussion and any other ideas

As you've mentioned, Malky, I like the idea of reducing the divisions to form just three.

What would be the idea with international managers - each league manager could also manage a national team if they want to?
Not sure about the current league size - maybe the issue here is to have a concerted marketing campaign to fill the vacnacies? Malky I know you've been doing this a long time so I guess you know all the right places to promote the game - but maybe others have any ideas?
Also there have been minor rule changes floated on the rules forum... is it time to try and sweep those all up in one go?

i like the idea of internationals i like the idea of the negotiating sponsorship deals i would like to see only three divisions with more teams in them
everything is fine with the game(my opinion) nothing to change but i do think we need some added features, like reserve cup games to run along side main cup games with a prize pot, increase prize money for reserve leagues
what about abb points for winning games say 20 and say 10 for draw these could be saved up over the seasons to be used when you like, if you have a player on 980 points then you could use the points to increase your player (with same rules apply on caps)
why not advertise vacancies on the home page

How about player and manager of the month awards, could give out abb points as a prize for each?
I also think reducing the EFL to three bigger divisions and adding a reserve cup would be good.

I would add the reserves to the currently league cup, I think it would create some great banter.
Imagine Valencia (just an example) going out to my reserves, how much stick would I give Andie.
I would have said the leagues were big enough but with the introduction of play offs they may need increasing.
Sort of like the idea you have with Internationals, if they were managed correctly, and not seen as a tool to fook as teams fitness up for their leage game, I take it abs would be added for Internationals to club stats etc.
I'm sure a little auction would generate some good activity on the forum board, I'm not talking about flooding the market but say 3/4 players couple of youths and a couple of superstars?
I'll get my thinking cap on, or ELF's hat!! ;D

Reserves:
Reserves play at least 4 games less than first teams, which is one of the main reasons some managers promote players to gain more playing time (abs) The more successful your first team is, depends on how many extra games those players can gain. However introducing a cup would increase the amount of games reserves could play. Even though it would be amusing introducing reserves to the first team cups, it wouldn't be beneficial at all to the reserves in the long term, especially getting a battering. But I do think a cup would be good, but it would have to be run along side the cups we have.
IMO: I've always thought reserves need to play as many if not more games than our first team, from a development point of view (not too much though) and creating a completely different style of cup to suit. We have 12 cup days during the course of the season so it shouldn't be hard to use up those days.
As an added note, first team cups will need to be played weekly (no mid week) as I can imagine the work load may become a bit much but it would make the season last longer and, if, the reserves play that little bit more would keep most managers active longer as they still will need to manage their reserves regardless if their first team is playing or not.

Or as there is no promotion/relegation from the reserves the top 2/3 in each league end up playing in the first teams cup.
I have no fear that my reserves would get battered, yes they are shite but I'd like to go blow for blow with the big boys.
It would be interesting having a reserve cup, as a lot of teams only see the reserves as abs gain, but to get that and progress you'd have to be a bit smart alongside that.

Internationals:
I did a while ago come up with a few different ideas regarding internationals, one of the main points I touched on was nationalities of players, where every player in the game would be assigned a nationality from a pool of 32 possible nationalities, then after that every player brought into EFL would be given, at random, one of those 32 nationalities. That way all players would be eligible to play (if chosen) and every team would be effected in some way. International Managers would then be responsible in scouting out there own pool of players and before any competition/friendly, would have to submit (on the forum) there chosen squad for the competition/friendly.
I did say that: We could run Internationals as per real life!
For example: The top 8 managers per season, could be assigned International squads of there choosing from a random draw of teams from any of the 32 nationalities, then those teams can be drawn at random to play friendlies a few times per season (fitness and injuries etc count) But when there's EURO's or WORLD CUP we all (32 managers) are assigned teams and we can play an Elite FA cup style tournament.

Sponsorship/auction.
I do think these 2 could be interesting?
Sponsorship, would be good, but do think there needs to be some structure behind it? ie, the longer you hold off doing a sponsorship deal the greater the reward you can gain but the bigger deals last longer, where as short sponsorship deals could yield less cash but shorter turn over. however deals could vary similar to that of scout missions, where you can come across a gem or an average deal? So some variation as all deals are different.
Auctions, could play a big part in sponsorship deals, where managers holding out for that big money deal, may be tempted to cash in if a potential star players becomes available?
However wouldn't like to see too many auctions, just ones every now and then to tempt us to part with our cash lol

League sizes: In all honesty i'm undecided about this one lol I must admit as it stands Division 1 and 2 could do with being bigger, as they have the potential of loosing up to 6 teams due to playoffs Elite could loose 3 and division 3, 3 but then again the bottom division in any format would have a shed load of teams playing for a few positions and you may find half way through a season those managers becoming in-active as they have very little to play for? Division 3 has been a problem area in this format over the seasons? So in another format (larger divisions) I can only see the bottom tier becoming a problem once again! Also there is the fact to consider: IF we go a head with internationals and reserve cup, the season would be longer anyway and more active!

My two pence worth To keep the current format, of 4 leagues of 8 teams keeps things nice and neat as far as cups are concerned, it's not exactly ideal for Division 1 and 2 but it is workable! Play first team cup games weekly and introduce a reserve cup to play along side it. Think the youth cup could be 4 leagues of 8 teams playing each other once, the top 2 of each group go into the knock out stages. Teams are seeded depending where they finish the previous season in the league. 1st and second pool 1, 3rd and 4th pool 2 etc etc. Internationals could be set as said before 32 different nationalities and to begin with play 3 friendlies per season with injuries etc counting, then eventually if demand is there look into extending it into tournaments! sponsorship and the odd auction would be good, if you introduce an income to the game, there always has to be an expenditure to counter act it IMO stops people stock piling money? I don't mind the challenge cup pre-season but do think we should have a winners cup instead, where the first placed teams in each division (x4) the winners of the FA cup (or runners up if winners have already qualified) and the winners of the Elite cup (as per FA cup) (x2) are drawn in 2 leagues of 3 teams playing each other once and the winners of each league play off in the final! Note: if winners and runners up of both cups have already qualified the 2 best runners up of the entire leagues are selected (wild card) Think it would be a better pre-season spectacle if honest! Think those changes in it self, introduces more games, a bigger season and a lot more activity, before during and after the season is done! Anyway up for discussion as always!

Like the last idea, of a pre-season winners cup.
Maybe you could play non abs gaining friendlies alongside these to keep everyone intereted, so those not qualified can put their team in the hat to play a frinedly that game week.
