Valencia Tottenham Rangers FC Feyenoord
Nice little group this one, one team from every division!
Personally happy at the fact I have 2 home games, but surprisingly not much difference between the teams.
Could be a tricky one?

Would like any kind of cup run this season, haven't performed well in any cups for a good few seasons, think my young team are still wet behind the ears and still have a long way to go as far as being really competitive.

Team sheet in, looking for a win here, hopefuly kick start my season. No win , couldn't even finish ten man Feyenoord off, the draw probably a fair result, dissapointed with my start to the season, surely can only get better.

Made 5 changes from the team that got thumped against Bayern including 1 debut.
With playing Feyenoord off the back of a good thrashing, would take any result here!

Team picked for my game against Spurs, want to win this game badly as Valencia are top opposition, having to beat Andies mob to qualify in the last game would be a big ask.
Happy with my set up and think trying to nick games and not lose them is the right way to go.

Got the win i hoped for, knew it would be tight, puts me top with 1 game to go, but it could go anyway, a draw will be enough against Andies mob, and will be playing for the point, Andie has got to go for the win, obvious tactics me thinks.
3 points gives me an unexpected 1st place , either way Marseille or Santos in the next round will be hard.
Honestly think theres an extremely high chance of finishing 3rd, this league format is so competitive

Looking at this group, it would be safe to say the winners or runners up will be facing either Marsielle or Santos. That is no disrespect to the other teams in Group C but I think both teams are superior and should finish the group as hot favourites.
With that in mind, it is a scary proposition and it will have a huge bearing on how we will approach our final game against Rangers!
The possibility of a home tie in the next round is appealing but then again being realistic! What's the chances of winning this group or more importantly progressing further in the competition after that??
Think the league may take preference and that will be a deciding factor especially if we need to rest players ahead of an away trip to Inter?
Looks like a lot of youth players kicking the ball around for the match between Valencia and Rangers!

Reckon this game is inded a game Andie wants to win, reckon my chances of victory are very slim.
Fitness is ok and no suspensions, Valencia have a few players a little low in fitness so maybe a wee chance of getting something.
Away from home, so gonna play for the point.
Would love a run of some sort in a cup competition, been a while since Gers got any further that the 1st hurdle !!

As Gazza has said fitness is low, so it is an ideal opportunity for Gers to progress further!
Drafted in some reserves as fitness is priority for our next league game Vs Inter.

Match Statistics --------------------------------------------------------------------- Valencia | Rangers FC Attempts on Goal : 2 | 1 Off target : 1 | 0 On target : 1 | 1 Possession : 54 | 46 Corners : 0 | 1 Red Cards : 0 | 1 Yellow Cards : 1 | 3 Subs Used : 0 | 3 Fouls : 11 | 18 Key Tackles : 2 | 8 Key Passes : 6 | 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Score : Valencia 0 - 0 Rangers FC --------------------------------------------------------------------- Played for the point and got the point, set up with the classic Negative style of football (*see celtic v barcelona, champions league ) Wanted to progress to the next round, but have also topped the group which is nice, home tie will provide much needed revenue. Stats fairly even so think the result was fair, lost Uddin to a red card, but managed to battle on and gain the point required. Good job lads, unlucky Andie a surprise elimination for such a decent team

yeah you played for the draw and got it so fair play on that score.
A bit disappointed that I miss typed my tactics:
TACTIC A IF MIN >= 46 SCORE <= 0 SUB DM 16 FW IF MIN >= 46 SCORE <= -1 SUB MF 14 MF IF MIN >= 46 SCORE <= -1 SUB AM 15 MF IF MIN >= 46 SCORE <= -1
Should have been <=0 lmao
But all in all, can't complain about that.
Good luck in the next round!

[quote author=gazza board=facup thread=3259 post=27262 Played for the point and got the point, set up with the classic Negative style of football (*see celtic v barcelona, champions league ) [/quote] This seems to work well if the other team is also playing a cautious game (see also AC vs Real this round). Not always such a good idea if the other team wants to play for the win!
