Not much to say about our game really. Both teams had an eye on the top of the league clash coming up. So making sure we didn't get humped was all we had to avoid.
Although I go into the league game with the extra momentum, Bryn is possibly the happier, with a very winnable trip to Schalke to look forward to.
Inter at home for me could be where an upset is.

Well 3 out of 3 is as much as I could have hoped for, also was able to rest quite a few key players so fitness will be good although picked up a suspension so will need a bit of a think for the Porto game

Liverpool 1 v 1 Aston Villa Attempts on Goal : 37 | 18 Off target : 16 | 11 On target : 21 | 7 Possession : 64 | 36 Corners : 6 | 9 Red Cards : 0 | 0 Yellow Cards : 0 | 2 Subs Used : 3 | 3 Fouls : 7 | 9 Key Tackles : 12 | 11 Key Passes : 30 | 14
Disappointed not to have won the match! i was very confident of getting the 3 points at home to see us into the next round but had to then hope Sunderland beat Hearts after our game ended 1-1 On paper we should have beat Aston Villa but fair play to Glen and there keeper T_Sorensen who made 23 saves we just couldnt get that killer 2nd goal which would have won the game very happy to be in the 2nd round Draw! away to Benfica is very very hard, they are playing great at the moment, 3 wins from 3 in the FA Cup and knocking Bayern Munich out the League Cup so im sure Theo will be pleased with his teams form and the next round draw

Match Statistics ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AS Roma | Celtic FC Attempts on Goal : 17 | 14 Off target : 8 | 5 On target : 9 | 9 Possession : 44 | 56 Corners : 2 | 3 Red Cards : 0 | 0 Yellow Cards : 3 | 2 Subs Used : 3 | 3 Fouls : 9 | 6 Key Tackles : 6 | 4 Key Passes : 16 | 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Score : AS Roma 2 - 2 Celtic FC ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hoped we might cause an upset this week but happy with the draw away from home against a good side. On another day we could have held on and won but it was a good performance from my lads again, things are starting to look up after last years debacle.

Santos FC 3 - 1 Aberdeen
A good performance from the lads, very pleased to have forced 12 saves out of Jensen as well as getting the goal. But away to such a quality side, the chances of the needed 2-0 victory were slim to say the least.
Another season and out of both cups at the first hurdle. Still there were only ever two likely qualifiers from this group.
Upsets all round in Group D, Scott pulling off an amazing job of winning the group, but what happened to Real? A bit lucky to get a draw (although you can rely on L_Mulen against Div 3 strikers) but end up with a favourable draw for round 2!

3-6-1 L suggests he played for the draw I think Bryn and Ahmed knew they wouldn't end up with each other in the second round. And nothing wrong with that. Not sure I agree with knowing your second round fate, but it certainly adds another dimension to this cup.

Inter Milan 4 - 1 Chelsea
The far superior team won, but we put up a good fight again and thats all i can hope for. We are a long-term project and its good to test ourselves against the top teams in the cup.
The league is more important but Chelsea enjoyed getting a draw against Newcastle and giving Inter a scare when we made it 1-1 before half-time.
All in all the group went to form and no real surprises here. Good luck in the next round inter and the toon.

3-6-1 L suggests he played for the draw Yeah I was thinking Newcastle were surprise winners of group F, but going into the game they were most likely to win. A bit fortunate for Ahmed that AC played for a draw as well!

I think AC were more just trying not to get hammered, expecting Real to play an attacking game

Schalke 04 1 - 0 FC Porto
failing to score against a 27rtd keeper................. just slightly disapointed. 5 attempts only 1 on target is just as big a piss take too.
well thats both cups out the way.

Yep Ahmed is mixing it up tactically this season. Some juicy fixtures there anyway, a lot of teams away to lower division opponents, should be interesting.

Not sure I agree with knowing your second round fate, but it certainly adds another dimension to this cup. I wasn't looking at the second round really. I was focussing on defence and making sure I got a draw or a low scoring defeat. I was also able to use a few of my youths which is a bonus for fitness. Very happy with the outcome in the end.
