Easy equation. Beat Lyon = Through
Now to work out how to do it. Everton team in a funny run of form, not many defeats but too few wins
Hmmm

Question Malky!
If teams are tied on points, are they judged on GD or head to head?
If Hearts draw and we lose, we will be tied for 2nd place on 4 points. If we lose 1-0, we will be equal on GD but Hearts better on GF. If we lose by more, Hearts will be better on GD. But we have the advantage head to head.
Just though I would ask the question BEFORE it happens!

Goal Difference mate, Goals for come into play first then goals against!

Ah b0ll0x.
Although I see that FIFA does still use this system, I had thought they used head to head before GD.
Our group is still wide open, anyone could go through. We could easily ship 4 goals against Bayern and if Chelsea win they could overtake us on GD. Even if Hearts draw, they could overtake us on GD too. And Bayern need the win to be sure of going through, so they can't take too many chances, even against Div 3 opponents. So despite being top of the group, our chances are slim.

We know what we need to do here and it's win and top the group, nothing less will do. I'm sure Aberdeen will be more than happy with a point which will see them through, a point on the otherhand for Munich would mean we're relying on the in form Hearts dropping points at home.
Not the ideal position we wanted to be in, but it's still in our hands.
Can't see anyone coming up from the reserves this time, it's knock out football, and something we love!!
Winner takes all Dan!

OK I'm hoping for two away wins, both by a 1 goal margin

Haha, I'd take that, even settle for a draw if Chelsea were to narrowly win!

mmm...i actually have no idea what to do here.
I've got in a great position in the group despite not wanting to be there...and after beating Munich (twice haha) how can i just throw it away by putting the kids in?
I think a mixture of first team and reserves is the way to go and see where it takes us!

Point required to go through, hopefully dont blow my good record and blow things at this stage, so will set up strong and hopefully take all 3 points, can only throw it away, Schalke will no doubt be up for this as they have a superior goal difference and the win will take them through, Spurs will be hoping to knock 3 or 4 past Sunderland and hope that either myself or Schalke could do the same to each other.
Love the league format actually as there are so many permutations !!

Agree Dan, everyone wants a good run in the cups, would love to progress to a final, been a while since i had any run of any sort, plus cash is king these days, 9 points plus a place in the next stage means so much to some teams, i love the banter, 'yeah think i will use this game as a run out for my reserves' lmao aye right you are !!
I play every game to win, very rarely if at all have i set up with a D tactic or tried to shut up shop, always tried to score goals and win at all costs, even the reserves mean a lot to me, just check the forums !!

we need to win or draw this match with them being just 1 point behind us. if we lose we need Benfica to lose by more than what we lose by lol.
we will be looking to go for it and get past the group stage for the first time in a while.

Can't see us beating Barca or more importantly results going our way! So promoted 4 youths and we will see how this pans out?? Got probably a full strength Madrid to face in the league, so need to prioritise!

I think my team selection proves that i was using this to rest my first team players BUT of course i wanted to win games and go through. Now though...it's a one off game and i#ll be going for it...sort off!
