Glad to have what was in the end a fairly comfortable win against the N tactic, was thinking the game had my number.
Old boy Murphy gets sent off in disgrace, which was a massive turning point in the game, as we had also just changed our style to attack. Maybe if rangers had 11 they may have had a few more chances.
Gazza's boys fought well, but experience and quality told in the end.
Fitness is looking healthy again and my next game is the battle of the reserve keepers.

Every league still in with hope of winning the FA Cup.
5 elite and one each of the other 3 leagues, will the draw be kind to Arsenal, Celtic and Lyon or will the big 4 which is looking more like 5 with the emergence of a highly impressive Ajax side get the tie against the minnows.
Santos v Real Ajax v Barca Celtic v Arsenal Munich v Lyon

Argh - not a great match for Benfica, 2 def's injured and a loss, after 9 goals last week my strikers reverted back to type and failed to score! well played Stu, good luck in the next round.

Hung on for an hour, but the loss of Murphy due to him being 'too up for it' cost me any chance of an unlikely victory, held my own against the Elite's finest so wont get too stressed about bowing out the cup.
Bayern stepped things up and swept us aside after taking the lead, easy victory in the end, well done bud.
Only my second defeat in all competitions, hopefully can bounce back on sunday

Hmmm. Didnt expect to sneak a win away at a team higher in the league, so very pleased with my Arsenal boys. One again my keeper does the business for me!

Schalke 04 2 - 6 Lyon
Brilliant result for us! We dominated the game from the first minute and aside from a bit of a fight back just after half-time, we looked comfortable throughout. Both teams went against their normal league tactics and we seemed to get it right.
Especially pleased as we brought in a couple of youngsters with Fofana putting in an unbelievable performance. I had to double-check that Schalke had played their first team after i saw the scoreline!
Stefano bagged himself a hat-trick and could probably have got a few more - making the most of his last season of youth bonus!
Gives us the mental edge going into the weekend game against Schalke. This time with home advantage. I'm sure they will make wholesale changes so i'm sure it will be a much tougher fixture. Our confidence is sky-high though.
Really pleased with the strides we have taken this season (so far...). Bottom of the league and out in the first round of the fa cup last year. We are now 3rd, chasing a promotion spot, in the FA Cup quarter-finals and only Liverpool stand between us and a league cup quarter-final as well.

Porto gave us a run for our money and could have sneaked a draw with a bit of luck. A bit frustrated to have another red card. Close to double figures now Happy to have missed the big guns, but Ajax are certainly not far off that level now. With home advantage I think they'll have to be favourites for this game.
