Well, I am back, and as I am thorough, I have had a sift through each team in the division to see what I am up against. So, lets have a look...
ABERDEEN
Well, they have a great first 11, however squad depth isn't particularly great. if their manager can handle their fitness, I cant see them being anywhere else but near the top. But one dodgy cup game with extra time and he could be screwed for a few games to recover. However, he does have cash to spend, and whilst there is still an old 23 rated middie on the auction list going cheap, he could easily add in some cheap back up players if he required. But who knows, he may well have a deal line dup to change his team completely.
ATHLETICO MADRID
Hmm, im not sure what to make of the Athleti team. He has loaned in 3 first team players which suggests he is looking to achieve success. However, the rest of his team aren't particularly good or particularly young. So what direction he intends to take over the next season or two isn't clear. J_Miranda 18 bra 2 21 9 6 stands out as his one player of promise, but with no other young stars coming through, I can only see him being sold in the coming few seasons to bring in first team players. I predict them to finish in the bottom third of the table.
ASTON VILLA
Well their new manager John is a mate of mine, so he will have no idea what's going on tactically this coming season. That could work out either way for anyone he plays against, as there will be an unreliability to his tactics that nobody will be able to read. His squad has a good consistency, with one or two good youngsters coming through. I envisage him to learn this season, then attack it next one.
DORTMUND
An average squad with a good manager. I don't know if Rune will be able to wonders with them, but they have some good quality youngsters coming through, so if not this season, then the next 2 or 3 should see them mature into a force.
CHELSEA
Hmmm, a good first team, if a little short of depth. I quite fancy them as a cup team this year. May need an extra one or two players to challenge on all fronts. Their reserves are very deep, something they obviously have been working on. May be able to make some big deals when they all mature.
Unfortunately, they are let down by their gk. And as GKs are like golddust, they may be waiting until Courtois matures from the reserves before success is fully achievable.
MANCHESTER CITY
A reliance on the loan market for defenders this season has been important whilst my youngsters mature. I have tried to build a squad capable of being competitive this season whilst my youths progress simultaneously. Usually I focus on one aspect only, but with the changes to the rules RE youths, I need to be more open minded.
Any success this season will be a bonus (and make my two OAP middies a worthy investment) but it wont be till the season after next that I have a team I believe capable of doign well. Again, a good gk is lacking, and I have no real idea where I will get one from. Creating a yth gk relies on the luck of scouts plus a lot of time, so we shall see.
I will be happy to finish top half, ecstatic to challenge at the top.
MANCHESTER UNITED
I recognise the managers name, but wow is his squad thin on paper. Like a lot of teams, they are short on good defenders, so I see them struggling, especially with their GK. Their best defenders retire EOS too!
No money to invest, no good youths coming through, I see bad times ahead for the minnows from Manchester.
NEWCASTLE
Well, the team with more stats than any other. Scanning through their team its a blur of double figures in all areas. Everyone knows my thoughts RE how the game works, so it should come as no surprise that I dont see the extraordinary secondary/tertiary stats as enough to compensate for the lack of main statted stars. They do have a star gk though, so I am going out on a limb and saying they will bore draw more than anyone.
Anything other than bottom third would be a job well done in my eyes.
PSG
Mike Vamplew, theres a name that rings bells also... A failry strong squad, some good youngsters coming through, everything seems shipshape, but I feel something is lacking. I cant put my finger on it as they have as strong a squad as anyone else... But I fancy PSG as the major dissapointment of the season tbh. Should be challenging at the top, but see them in mid table mediocrecy.
SAO PAULO
Has a great mix of strong first team and up and coming youngsters. Similar to myself in relying on a few loans to bridge the gap of youths progressing. As a manager he does talk a load of nonsense, so I fully expect him to mess up tactically and have blown his season by game 6. If he doesnt, he should be at the top challenging fo rhonours, but I dont think he has whats required to do so. Will mor ethan likely jump ship EOS to a new challenge if all fails.
SCHALKE
Have to be favourites for the league. Strong team, strong gk, a couple of good youths coming through. Everything seems in place for Shalke to get promoted and stay up.
SUNDERLAND
Another manager I remember, what is it with all these experienced managers in the bottom league? I think their major mistake is the loaning of the striker Langlitz. He will no doubt be expected to play, meaning his own strikers, who will be leading the line next year as Stewart retires, suffer. I think he will be reliant on loans for the foreseeable future...
