What a game, can't believe I come away from a game against Real Madrid and feel hard done to, Rangers were the better team and had all the stats, Yes Real were down to 10 men early doors but make no bones about it, Rangers battered the Spaniards up and down the park and should be in the semi-finals.
The facts are Rangers are NOT in the semi-finals and Ahmed's team live to fight another day, I will give it another go, but playing away from home against Real Madrid, might be a step too far,I am happy with this performance, and as I have said, my team are playing decent football now.
Big shocker with Celtic beating Barca, Lyon humbled too !, Bayern Munich progress as expected.
Entertaining stuff !

A few surprises, in fact, all but the Benfica - Bayern match. We're not happy going out at this stage. Just didn't perform on the day. Looks like the season is slipping away from us now. Out of the big cup and loosing ground to Bayern and Real in the league. Perhaps our only hope is the league cup.

Some Quarter finals that.
Rangers have certainly spurned a massive opportunity. Absolutely battered a well below par Madrid and have to be wondering how they didn't win that.
Other the other side of Glasgow Celtic were banging then in for fun early doors, I wondered if Bryn had played his controversial keeper at first. Then the come back began but fell short is that 0 in 3 from RVN, a man that has failed to win any silverware for a few seasons now I believe.
AC caused a mini surprise against a Lyon side that haven't lost many and have become a bit of a cup side, but they were well and truly beaten in a very open match.
On to ourselves, we wanted to keep it tight and fancied taking them back to our place whilst hoping new signing Postiga would nick one at the other end, as he done so much last season. It was written in the script treble winner and player of the season scored the winner in a tight battle with both sides reluctant to lose. Benfica possibly hoping to go the full distance and win following the lottery of pens.
The game was very stop start with fouls galore but with a weak ref in charge the tone was set and would follow for the whole game.
This has become the cup we want to own after several seasons shunning it for the historical now lesser thought of league cup.
Our treble treble has gone but we still dream on an unthinkable double.

Wow what a game I can't quite believe that my game plan worked as well as it did! This morning I decided to take a gamble and play L to try and nullify the Barca midfield and minimise the chances they could create for RVN and the fact we limited him to just two shots shows how well my guys played. I also had a feeling Bryn would play 3 at the back to make most of his advantage in midfield so I gambled on playing 3 up front to cause them as many problems as I could. Somehow it all came together and worked a treat, never in my wildest dreams did I expected to go 3-0 up before half time at most I hoped to nick a 1-0 win, so to come away with a 3-2 win is one of my best results since I've been playing EFL. Unlucky Bryn it was a great match!

We were shocking! Worst performance for a long time and Milan deserved it.
Shame because we take the cups seriously and we had a real chance of a semi-final here.
Next year maybe.

Rangers team selected for our quarter final replay with Real Madrid, not very confident but have set up accordingly to give ourselves an excellent chance of making the semi finals, fingers crossed we can steal the result, but will take loads of luck, maybe a red card for Real's Keeper !!
Reckon Real will tighten things up, you confident Ahmed ?
