5 games to go and it's all starting to hot up. A surprise defeat for leaders Schalke at Man U, twice they came from behind but were sunk by a late winner. United showing that you don't always need a high skilled keeper. The PSG machine rolls on, now with 16 points from their last 18 and they're level on points with the leaders, an amazing success story for one of the division's new teams. They edged past strugglers Dortmund in a cagey match.
A rare excellent win for us on the road, perhaps a flattering scoreline as we ran away with it after going 2-1 up late on. Villa kept up the pressure, putting 10-man Sao Paulo to the sword in a routine win. Wins for Villa and Newcastle piled on more pressure on Schalke as well.
We have now edged past Newcastle on goal difference, and a gap is now starting to open up between 6 and 7 which means the teams in the bottom half are now unlikely to make it into the playoffs. The title is certainly wide open, any of the top 3 could win it and there's still an outside chance for 4-6.
Interesting times. The bottom tier football is where the real excitement is!
