Sorry Dillon, freak result. No explanation for that scoreline! And there I was reading the report, thinking how nice it would be to top the group... and bl00dy Bayern outdid us! I think Shaun has given up posting match comments. I do think Porto's luck will change over the long run of the season.
Anyway for us it's good - if we are battling with Porto for 2nd place we now have a +14 GD advantage which will help.
In other news, two men dressed in red were spotted at the front of the field at Anfield. Experts believe this is the first time such a pairing has been observed in the wild.
Oh and Rangers.... really?

Nice for our strikers to fill their boots. Although Porto obviously forgot to sheet, judging by the comment by them. They were already up against it with the keeper but to lose a defender after 2 minutes was a nightmare start. Our strikers really enjoy the group stages of the cup scoring for fun, they just need to take it into the league.
We took full advantage banging in the goals, even giving our sub keeper some minutes in defence.
Need to eradicate these mistakes, that that's 3 games now, and will cost us longer term.

Went for it this week as I was at home against a lower league team, played 3 forwards and chased goals, but alas not to be, Daniels team parked the bus from the off and went for the draw, they had a man sent off in defence in the first half, thus leaving them vulnerable at the back and their 30 rated keeper exposed to my 3 forwards, you would think the scene would be set for a glut of goals from Rangers ! Nah they dominated my superior midfield and held out for the win, what can I say.... Well done Sao Paolo. Aberdeen thumped my lads Osasuna 6-0 away ? That was a head scratcher too, freak result, yeah Aberdeen on paper have a better team, but 6-0 lmao, it's a conspiracy against the Grants I tell you

Haven't checked all reports but strange how so many goals were scored with teams setting up playing Defensive.
4 from Aberdeen and 2 from Sao Paulo, anymore??
How powerful is the D tactic??

my thoughts exactly
oh, and i wasn't playing for a point, i was playing for fitness (by resting some key players) and to keep the score down (by playing D) so it really is a ridiculous scoreline.
however, i'll take it

Either way you cut it up, well done.

We decided to rest some stars and promote our best youth for this one. In the end we have to be happy with our narrow win after Saruman saw red in the 7th minute. Odegaard proved a shrewd move as he bagged the only goal of the match; definitely one for the future.

What happened in group G? One of the Div 2 teams likely to go through now. That's what the cups are all about. Great for the game as a whole. Will City or SP pull a Villa this season? Both sides have some decent quality in the starting 11, so when combined with the right tactics you never know.
