This game is one everyone is always looking out for, we have played attacking football lately and it's been better for us. I don't intend to change that going up against a suspended and injured Rangers team. 3 points split us, however 3 points also split the relegation spot and us.
Elsewhere a must win for Roma to lift them,
Porto and Aberdeen, both teams need 3 points. Aberdeen to halt their slide and Porto to push on and secure playoffs and possibly a repromotion straight away
Villa should win, avoiding any potential banana peels which probably will secure their status of champions if Valencia and Marseille fail
Milan need points but Marseille should be too strong
Schalke v Valencia could go either way

Yep could be more deep doodoo for us this week, Porto are in good form, they look good on paper, and they have a full strength team available. And home advantage. Time for an upset then Still, this is the last really difficult game for us. I do think we've been talked up a bit too much this season after our dramatic run of form last term. At the start of the season, I would have been happy with a 6-9th place finish, and I still think we are likely to get that. So I won't be too despondent if we come back from Portugal empty handed, because we should finish the season strongly. Cue 5 week injury to 1st team keeper.

A win this week should see us clear from trouble for a few weeks anyway, it's revenge time as I want to put my young lad back in his place for pipping me the last time we played !!
Rangers are not going to shake things up to much, we have are using the old Malky formula and it seems to be making us a hard team to beat, so will probably stick with five at the back.
Reckon we have that extra bit of quality and I predict Aquafresca to be the difference between the teams come Monday.
Porto Aberdeen should be a cracker, Dan needs to take something to be in the hunt for the playoffs, Schalke Valencia is another good wee game that could go either way.
Good wee tussle at the bottom between Roma and Bremen.
Good luck lads.

I remember doing last seasons cup draws and slagging of Aston Villa, now will possibly back to back promotions and League Cup semi finalists in season 18 & 19 it may be time for an apology to John!
everyone including myself thought this league table wouldnt lie come the end of the season and Aston Villa would fall away at some point, too many big guns in this league, Villa would be mid table at best.
there is during a season games everyone should win and they dont or loose and they dont but over the season the engine does work and better teams/managers/tactics do come out on top, so i think we should congratulate John on what he has achieved with a club that for so long has been the butt of a few jokes!
The Elite League however is a different animal
hopefully with 18 points still to play for ive not gave them the kiss of death

Yes John has strengthened the squad further this season and Villa are there fully on merit. However, with 5 players going at the end of the season, and not much in the kitty, next season is going to be very tough for them.

I think Villa will be ok for 2 seasons yet, if they can continue to use the loan market to bring in three first team players and sign one or two more a season on top of that then they'll be all right.
The only big issue is replacing the keeper, he has two seasons left to find a replacement but John should be able to pick up a 27-28 rated one before then, that will be a big drop but clubs have shown with the right tactics etc. that you can survive with that.
