Nice to start week one at home, fitness is a bit low after the extra time in the cup, Barcelona have a great team and always give me a hard game, anything but a draw here would be good, but needing wins to hopefully mount another challenge for the league title.

So Feyenoord are back in the big time for the first time since Season 8. The club was Elite champ in Season 5 and has seen various levels of success under EFL legends such as Derek Purvis and Stuart Neilson.
I think we surprised everyone by getting the runner up spot in Div 1 and taking runaway favourites Juve to the last day of the season. To be honest I think it only takes a few fortunate results to make or break a season, and the dice were probably rolling in our favour. But I did learn a few things about tactics, and I think the one man that really made a difference was 39 rated GK Barkochev (10 league goals conceded), who has now gone off to open a sports bar in Kiev. Along with a few other retirements, this left plenty of holes in the squad.
The runner up finish and a good FA cup run left us with a decent bank balance, and I have gone some way to plugging those gaps, but really we are going into a much tougher division with a weaker squad than last season, so this is going to be all about survival.
As the transfer deadline approached last season and we were sitting a couple of points clear at the top, I did think about selling all of the golden oldies, including Barkochev, and waiting another season for a promotion push. However, we are a small club, we're always going to be fighting, so I don't think there is ever a good time for us to go up. I'm not super happy about the way the squad's looking, but at least we will only have two retirements to plug next season. We're the weakest team in the division, so staying up would be a success.
Looking forward to entertaining the mighty Santos in our first home game. Can't see us getting many points on the road, so home games will be a priority.

Looking around at the goalies in this division, might be a good idea to play for abs for a season or two up here. They're going to find it tough according to some. Decisions, decisions. Funny old battle with Feyenoord last season saw Juve mentioned more than them in their matchday programme, can't see that continuing this season, they'll have other rivals to worry about, rather than me. First up Houstons Sao - looking to slow their lift off, and cause them some problems. Good luck all.

We have a decent squad, but you're definitely stronger, like you were last season. Anything but a defeat will be a success for us. As last season, we're not too bothered about winning every game as we know we're not in a position to challenge the top yet. It's a project, so we just have to take it game by game at the moment. I think Sao Paulo v Juve will be a very interesting game. Both teams were fantastic last season, so this may be a barmeter for how they'll fare this season. Good luck to all the newcomers!

It's always nice to start with a home game so we're hoping we don't waste that advantage and get a result against Bayern.
The midweek cup game and extra time mean we have a few fitness issues and a suspension to work with, we've added some depth to the squad in pre-season to try and help us compete with the likes of Rangers and Santos who I think are the favourites for the title this season.
Good luck everyone.

Away to Feyenoord - unknown quantity / very defensive knocked us out of the cup playing D Decided to keep the skill level high this season and for the first time ever managed to loan out 3 1st teamers to Div 2 clubs - so hopefully keeping the high skill levels to compete at the top. Don't know about Rangers + Santos being favourites but I do think Celtic are still favourites due to the strike force which does end at the end of this season ,, Good luck everyone - think it's going to be another close one throughout the whole division

Up against runaway Div 1 champs Juventus a few retirements from last season has left the squad bit weak but hey need to see what I can do priority is to stay up.
Going to be a very interesting season ahead with some cracking teams in here so not expecting much this year.
Good luck everyone.

It's a new Osasuna side on show today, but we're hoping to continue our tradition of beating Real on the first game of every season. We always seem to start well but we've had to sell up the core of our squad to ensure we can continue on the road to being a big club, with the stadium being reopened today after work to bring the capacity to 150,000. We're looking for a sell out from the fans today to back the boys after a record 4th finish, the highest in our history.
We'll be welcoming a lot of new faces to the club with a few being thrown in for their debut along with a few of our younger lads making the step up, I'm sure we'll compete and give Real a game today
New formation, new tactics, same Osasuna. Shaw will be leading the lads out again as captain of the side for another season, I'm looking at him to take some of the younger or newer lads under his wing and show them what Osasuna is about
